How new ways of tracking our personal data can improve our health and healthcare system

Data is probably the number one most powerful and least understood part of our personal healthcare experience. Yet, most people do not think of it all. From our wearable devices telling us how many REM cycles we miss, to the emergency room where sensors can track our vital signs, the harnessing and control of our personal health data is driving significant disruption in the healthcare industry.

HealthBeat 2014 will examine the many steps in the patient’s journey, from the data-driven healthcare generation looking at how information travels from medical records, to how providers use this data and cutting-edge technology to provide better care, to how institutions share it while striving to protect the privacy of a patient.

Never before have we as individuals and professionals had so much access to Pii (Personally Identifiable Information). Who owns it? Where does it go? Who sees it? How secure is it?

Join VentureBeat in welcoming the best and most forward-thinking providers, scientists, and technologists to look at how we can really integrate data from that patient’s “first mile” with the sprawling system of healthcare that makes up the “last mile.” We will look at the problems that still exist and the latest solutions and procedures that are helping us break through to more efficient and optimal outcomes. We will talk about real issues with respect to how technology can improve the patient’s journey.

Program

HealthBeat will tackle the following questions:

  • How can we improve the level and the breadth of health care?
  • How are the roles changing between patients, providers, caregivers, hospitals, pharmaceutical and insurance companies?
  • How can we bridge the last disconnects and deliver on the promises of new treatments and new business opportunities?
  • How can the incumbent giants of health care and disruptive health-tech startups work together?

Join 500 health care executives, IT decision makers, investors, and press as we analyze trends, highlight solutions, and showcase breakthrough products in health care technology.

Agenda

Innovation Showcase

Are you an innovator in the health care industry? If so, we’re looking for you!

We’re looking for companies with the most innovative take on how to improve the quality & outcomes in our current healthcare ecosystem. These innovative companies are leveraging health-related information in new ways – providing valuable and simple integration with existing EHR platforms – tightening the gap between health professionals around the world to increase collaboration – increasing doctor/clinician to patient communication – & breaking the traditional molds to take the healthcare industry to the next level.

We welcome applications from young startups as well as more established players, and focus on the innovative aspects of the initiative. The showcase represents the opportunity to expose your company, product, app or solution to 500+ healthcare leaders, doctors, health IT decision makers, venture capitalists, investors, and press. Each company will have four minutes to showcase their innovative tool live on HealthBeat’s main stage. Our team of interviewers — made up of industry experts, doctors, clinicians, patients and actual health care executives — will ask a few additional live questions.

The application deadline is Friday, October 10th.

Submit an application here.
